David Lawrence, Sr. is a proud father and the humble founder of The Scuba Gym. His mission is to bring SCUBA to a family level, to create a space where parents and their kids can share in one of the greatest, life changing activities he and his family have ever enjoyed.
In 2007, David and his wife, Kim, went from having a happy, healthy son to having a son diagnosed with a brain tumor and a high probability of not surviving surgery. Post surgery, their son was paralyzed from the neck down. Against the odds, David Jr regained some use of his right side but remained completely paralyzed on his entire left side. After three long years of endless prayers, different types of routine therapy, and the addition of David Sr.’s SCUBA therapy, David Jr. (AKA ‘Scuba Jr.) walks, runs, and does anything he puts his mind to! It is because of this personal experience and success that David Sr. started The Scuba Gym. He has made it his mission to help others with Special Needs through SCUBA…The rest is history. Watch the above video for David’s full story, where The Scuba Gym is today, and to hear more about David Jr.’s journey that lead to this very, very special place.
We are humble and proud to be working alongside this extraordinary group of people. We consider them family, as they consider all of their members. Please consider donating to The Scuba Gym or purchasing some of our products on behalf of SCUBA4LIFE, where a portion of sales goes back to The Scuba Gym and the many lives they change.
